Not many people know that Victorian charm embroidery carries a certain symbol. If you believe experienced needlewomen, having embroidered an image of a house according to the pattern, you can expect the approach of your dream, which is the desire to have your own home. Let's take a closer look at what Victorian charm embroidery is.

The first recommendation that embroiderers follow is to start working only on the fourteenth lunar day. If this is not important to you, you may not adhere to this advice. Not all craftswomen are inclined to attach sacred meaning to this embroidery. For those who decide to listen to the advice, we recommend purchasing a special calendar that lists all the days of the lunar renewal. Its first day means a new moon, and its last day means a full moon.

The most interesting thing you can do with a Victorian charm embroidery pattern is to change some of the elements in it. For example, you can put your own money into your work mental desires and messages. So you have the option to do the following things:

  • embroider bright lamp light in the windows of the house. This will make the drawing more lively. Some embroiderers complement the windows with flowers in pots or images of babies standing in them;
  • if you think that there are too many floors on the diagram, which increases the time spent on work, then reduce the floors. But do not forget that the number three carries a special religious meaning;
  • Victorian charm embroidery involves the image of cats in the pattern. If desired, they can be replaced with any other animals, such as dogs;
  • As for embroidering the front door, this is a controversial issue. From the point of view of ancient Chinese teachings, the door is best depicted in red and it is desirable that it be open. This sign means that if a person cannot change his place of residence, then he needs to paint his door red. Then everything will work out in his family and at work. For those who do not believe in such signs, all that remains is to embroider the “Victorian charm” as it was originally shown;
  • You retain the personal right to decide what color floss to embroider and on what canvas.

As you can already see, Victorian charm embroidery is not just a job, it is a whole ritual that is observed by experienced needlewomen. Among themselves they call this picture “the witch’s house.” Maybe that's why everyone tries to carefully follow all the recommendations. The work pattern is quite large, so embroidery will not be fast, but on the contrary, it will take a lot of your personal time. This is due to the fact that you will have to pay a lot of attention to the development of small elements.

If you look at the diagram, you can imagine the entire scope of work. And in order for you to clearly see how to embroider “Victorian charm”, we suggest watching an interesting video in which you will learn all the nuances of such needlework.

So, where to start?...I guess I'll start like this. About a year ago, while on maternity leave with a baby, I suddenly thought: “Why not?” And I ordered the well-known “Victorian Charm” set from Dimensions, and sent all my thoughts into space with a call to make my dream come true. Oh, yes, I re-read all the articles and forums on the Internet, where lucky women whose dream had already come true shared with indescribable enthusiasm all the details that must be observed in order to get what they want. Yes, yes, I was burning with impatience and waited for what I needed. lunar day and with the first stitches I was already imagining how I was crossing the threshold of my mansion.

Nearly a year ago I was babysitting with my Little Lady and suddenly I decided to try to cross-stitch the "Victorian Charm" by Dimensions. I read about all the magic powers that this design contain and I sent all my positive thoughts in space to make my dream come true.

To be honest, my former mood soon faded: firstly, the baby demanded all my attention, where should I embroider (well, you know how it happens), secondly, I already had three started designs, which I was torn between, because I love everyone dearly. Over the next 5 months, I periodically returned to the “mansion,” but only to take a break from other current worries and processes.

To be hounest, it was a long way for me. I almost lost my enthusiasm and my baby needed all my time (you know what it is), and I already had three designs that I have started and wanted to finish first. During 5 months I cross-stitched the Charm, but only to let me switch from other stitching process.

In July-August last year, in one of the “mom’s” forums, where I hung out in free seconds, I saw an image of a familiar design. One of the moms like me talked about her desire to embroider “Victorian Charm” and encouraged those who wanted to join. It was then that I decided that it was time to remember my dream. More girls joined us and we agreed to post our progress report in the group every week. And then it started! I realized that I can no longer justify the lack of time for embroidery - after all, the same mothers who have the same concerns embroider with me in the group. And since it’s embarrassing to post little progress in my weekly reports, I set myself a weekly plan and tried to fulfill it at all costs. So my mansion gradually acquired walls, windows, floors and the treasured roof!

Once, I saw in social media a message that such mothers like me decided to start to cross-stitch the Victorian Charm together. So, we decided to show each other our process progress every Sunday (and that was the great motivation for me). So, very soon I could see walls, windows and the door of my future house:)

How happy I was that I decided to embroider from the “foundation”, and not, as I was usually used to, from the uppermost corner - when the lower half was embroidered, I sighed with ease - the second half with the roofs and sky is much smaller :)

The greenery sometimes saved me - if I got tired of the house, then I switched to the forest

I changed only one thing on my own - I drew a heart on the sign by the lantern, just because I wanted to :)

And of course back. I trusted my mother’s advice and did the backing right away, and not as usual at the end, when all the crosses had already been embroidered. I was so tired of constantly concentrating on this particular design that I was glad to put the final “star” and not think about the backing.

I"m not going to tell all the details of this famous design, that you all already know, but I still have some points to share with you:
- I was glad in my decision to start from the "foundation", not from the top, as usual, as I was happy after the enormous half of the design was done and I the small top part with the sky was left only
- vast area of green (flowers, trees, etc.) was like a ray of sunshine for me after numerous bricks
- if you enjoy French-knots-making, numerous stars in this design are for your pleasure
- I decided to change the original symbol at the street-lamp to a "heart" sign, just because I liked the idea
- I was also glad to start back-stitching while crossstitching process, as I was extremely happy not to do it after all crosses were done (as usual), as I was so tired.
