On the eve of the opening of Fashion Week in New York, the Panton Color Institute named the fashionable colors of the fall-winter season 2018-2019. There are 10 of them again. And a mini palette has again joined the trendy ten fashionable shades basic colors– last time there were 4 of them, now – 5.

Well, the shows of seasonal collections have just begun, let's see how accurate the experts' forecast will be this time! In the meantime, let’s take a closer look at the most fashionable colors of the season according to Pantone.

The palette of fashionable shades looks completely un-autumn. And definitely not in a winter way! There are many surprises in it - bright and rich colors. According to Panton experts, they express our need for creativity, individuality and ingenuity.

red pear

To be honest, I have never seen this exact shade of pear! But if experts think so, we’ll agree with them. And why not agree - the color is very beautiful! The juicy and rich red shade of Red Pear seduces with its depth, arouses admiration and a desire to try it on right away!

Akris, Elisabetta Franchi fall-winter 2018-2019

Valiant Poppy

Having once again marveled at the imagination of Panton experts, let’s admit that this shade of red is simply charming! Valiant Poppy exudes warmth and expression, and although he has been called brave, he is not aggressive at all!

Valentino, Lisa Perry, Christian Siriano fall-winter 2018-2019

Foggy blue

A thoughtful and calm dark blue shade, Nebulas Blue evokes the bright summer sky and radiant Blue eyes. Don't look at gray clouds– put on Nebulas Blue and summer will return to you!

Annakiki, Boss, Alexis Mabille fall-winter 2018-2019

Ceylon yellow

The spicy and piquant shade of Ceylon Yellow adds a bit of exoticism and heat to the autumn-winter palette.

Annakiki, Les Copains, Roksanda fall-winter 2018-2019

Olives for Martini

But the Martini Olive color in the fall-winter 2018-2019 palette is clearly “in its place.” A complex shade of brown with a green undertone looks elegant and sophisticated, adding depth and “naturalness” to the palette.

Fendi, Christian Dior, N21 fall-winter 2018-2019

Red orange

The reddish-orange shade of Russet Orange is meant to remind us of falling leaves. It seems to whisper about fallen leaves and the last warm days of “Indian summer” and invites you to take a walk in the autumn forest - to wander along the rustling carpet, saying goodbye to summer with quiet sadness...

Moschino, Zang Toi fall-winter 2018-2019

Ultraviolet

Our old friend Ultra Violet is the color of the year 2018. Of course, we couldn’t do without it. We have already written about him more than once, so we won’t introduce him again.

Alberta Ferretti, Annakiki, Roberto Cavalli fall-winter 2018-2019

Crocus petal

From the bright purple crocus, which delighted us with its “blooming” in spring and summer, by autumn only a petal remained... But even for this, thank you. Exquisite, light, gentle and delicate, Crocus Petal adds etherealness to the palette and reminds that spring will come very, very soon! There is no reason to be sad.

Moschino, Miu Miu, Nina Ricci fall-winter 2018-2019

Limelight

Spicy, sparkling and lively, the light yellow shade with a subtle, subtle green undertone is a close relative of the shade Meadowlark, which has lost just a little of its brightness by autumn. But that won't stop you from being the center of attention if you choose Limelight.

Lanvin, N21, Hellessy fall-winter 2018-2019

Green quetzal

The deep blue-green shade, named after the quetzal bird, looks extremely elegant and rich. We can confidently predict that designers will not fail to play with Quetzal Green in evening dresses.

Luisa Beccaria, Vionnet fall-winter 2018-2019

Basic shades are the basis of any wardrobe. They are not subject to either time or capricious fashion trends. These colors can be worn in any season, adding fashionable trendy shades, new fabrics and textures, creating beautiful combinations and a variety of looks.

So, what color are the bricks in the foundation of the basic fall-winter 2018-2019 palette?

Sargasso Sea

The deep dark blue shade of Sargasso Sea resembles the depths of the sea - boundless and bottomless.

Balenciaga, Pamella Roland, Emporio Armani fall-winter 2018-2019

Tofu

Neutral white Tofu shade with a soft creamy undertone.

Tod's, Laura Biagiotti fall-winter 2018-2019

Shiny almond

The undemanding and soft shade of Almond Buff is similar to the color of the fur of a small camel.

Annakiki, Cushnie et Ochs, Osman fall-winter 2018-2019

Quiet gray

A discreet and light shade of light gray, Quiet Gray is the perfect companion and background for any color.

Rachel Zoe, Badgley Mischka, Alexander Wang fall-winter 2018-2019

Meerkat

This toasty brown shade adapts very easily to any style and wardrobe.

Zimmermann, Haider Ackermann, Etro fall-winter 2018-2019

So, Panton experts expressed their opinion. All that remains is to see what fashionable colors in clothing will prevail in the fall-winter 2018-2019 collections. Will the designers' favorites and the forecasts of the Color Institute analysts coincide?

P.S. So, Fashion Weeks in all four world capitals have ended, and we have updated the article with photos from the shows. What is the result?

Well, I must say that in many ways the experts’ forecast was justified. Expected ultraviolet was in the lead- both in outerwear, and in casual, and evening wardrobes. And here light purple “Crocus Petal” and light yellow “Lightlight"was offensively little. This was especially unexpected after such a bright leadership of lavender in previous seasons. But there were plenty of bright yellow models- so Meadowlark and lemon Lime Punch, fashionable in the spring-summer season, will not be hidden - they will still be popular in the fall.

But fuchsia and mint are not in the fashionable Panton palette. But they are in collections - and in abundance.

An interesting trend has emerged in the palette of basic shades - light gray and dark blue were more popular in evening wear than in basic wardrobe. And here white, despite the cold season, may well compete with purple for 1st place! The designers, it seems, did not immediately realize that they were working not on a summer wardrobe, but on an autumn-winter one!

They say you can't look into the future. But not in the world of fashion! Long before the onset of autumn 2018, the main colors that would color the coming season became known. The Pantone Color Institute has named the fashionable colors for fall-winter 2018.

The authoritative opinion of Panton influences all areas of art that are somehow related to color. Fashion is no exception. The main range appears in clothing, accessories, and cosmetics. The shades of the season usually correspond natural colors time of year. In summer they are juicy and bright, in spring they are delicate and translucent, in autumn they are warm and deep, in winter they are rich and sparkling. We also love Panton very much for the poetic and metaphorical names it gives to fashionable shades!

So, what are they, the top 10 main colors of the fall-winter 2018 season?

10 most fashionable fall-winter colors

Fashionable colors according to Panton for the coming season are distinguished by depth and calmness. They repeat the colors autumn forest: fallen leaves, clear sky, feathers of birds. The autumn-winter 2018-2019 palette is diluted with surprisingly bright and fresh tones, which are rarely found in the cool season.

We suggest moving on to photos of flowers.

red pear

Deep and noble red-brown opens fashionable fall-winter colors. Truly an autumnal shade. Ideal not only for shoes and accessories, but also for translucent romantic dresses with frills. Molly Goddard's collection is proof of this.

Valiant Poppy

Despite its name, the current shade of red is not militant, but quite calm and friendly. Pairs perfectly with both basic and other trendy fall colors.

Foggy blue

Fashionable “foggy blue” is reminiscent of a clear autumn sky - calm and clean, but not as bright as in summer. If you don’t know what to wear, choose a blue total look, like in the show American brand Tibi.

Ceylon yellow

Spicy Ceylon Yellow is delicious and complex. Ideal for those with dark skin and a bright appearance. If you are afraid of getting lost in an exotic shade, opt for fashion accessory, for example, a handbag or a belt.

Olive for martini

Panton gave the complex and noble shade a very glamorous name, rather so that girls would not be afraid of it. Compare the militant “khaki” or the dubious “swamp” and “martini olive”, the latter sounds much more attractive! At the same time, the color is very natural and refined. Just look at how he plays on the catwalk in Simone Rocha's collection.

Red orange

The most autumnal color, reminiscent of fallen leaves and hot pumpkin soup. Bright, juicy, it goes well with both basic colors: black, white, brown, and contrasting ones: blue, green, purple.

“Ultraviolet” is the main color of 2018 according to Pantone, and you can’t do without it in the fall-winter season. It goes well with, no less relevant, bright “red orange” and “Ceylon yellow”, and also refreshes and complements the “martini olive”.

Crocus petal

This delicate cool shade is more typical for spring, but this year it is included in the fashionable palette of the fall-winter season. Ideal for romantic souls who have already begun to look forward to spring 2019!

Limelight

Muted and slightly “scattered” yellow is suitable for any type of appearance. Unlike “Ceylon yellow”, it can be worn by both fair-haired and fair-skinned blondes.

Green quetzal

The quetzal (or quetzal) is a bird with colorful plumage. The back, wings and tail are painted a deep blue-green, it was hard not to be inspired! A dramatic and very noble tone, ideal for evening dresses - floor-length dresses and silk jumpsuits.

Classic color palette

Fashionable colors for fall-winter 2018 are not only a trendy, rich palette, but also a classic basic one. The base forms the backbone of your everyday wardrobe. These are the usual calm shades in a new, fashionable interpretation. They can be combined with elements from the main palette or remain in a total look, in any chosen color.

Sargasso Sea

Dark, mysterious, attractive blue is practically the new black for the fall-winter 2018-2019 season. Complete with white, red, blue, orange, and, to be honest, with any shade from the main fashion palette.

Tofu

And “tofu” is the new white. Warmer, creamier, softer. This is an ideal color for blouses and shirts. It highlights your skin tone and, unlike snow-white, will not compromise your smile.

Combining classics with colorful expression, Pantone's Fall/Winter 2018 Fashion Color Trends Report features a bold palette of fall hues complemented by some pretty unexpected colors. Continuing the trend of colors that transcend seasons, the Fall/Winter 2018 report highlights the 10 best colors for men's and women's fashion, as well as five new classic shades.

The colors for autumn/winter 2018 express our need for individuality, originality and creativity. We are seeing a continued shift away from cyclical trends and, in return, a strong focus on self-expressive colors that deviate from the outdated structure of the seasons. As a result, we see the emergence of clearly visible non-traditional options in the Very / Winter palette, for example, PANTONE 12-0740 Limelight (light) and PANTONE 15-3520 Crocus Petal (crocus petal). These unexpected shades reinvent the entire story of seasonal flowers and allow artistry and originality to move forward.

While mixing and matching unexpected colors like these can create a unique, distinctive style or look, for Fall/Winter 2018 we're also seeing colors that create just as much impact on their own. More often than in previous seasons, we are seeing shades that are strong enough that can be used alone to create a very distinct and original color style.

The Panton Color Institute has been researching colors for over half a century. Every year, this organization introduces a trendy color palette that will be popular all year long. This year was unique because the Panton Institute presented not 10, but as many as 20 colors. Why did such a failure occur? That's because Panton first introduced a dozen colors selected from the New York fashion shows, and then a dozen colors selected from the London shows. And, we can tell you more, it is not a fact that this will all end and the Panton Institute will not offer additional color palettes based on fashion shows from Milan and Paris. Well, until this happens, we suggest you understand what we have today.

Every year, world-famous designers do a great job of telling you what to wear and what to wear with it. They determine not only the type of fashion items, their style and color scheme, but also create ready-made fashionable images. When creating fashion collections for each season, the opinion of the Panton Institute is also taken into account. To keep up to date with the colors that are fashionable this season, we have prepared this material especially for you.

Pantone executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, assured that there is a connection between the tones that made up the trend palette presented at Fashion Week in New York and London. Although, the individuality of the color schemes is also obvious, as is the difference in the combinations presented at the fashion show in the two cities.

Autumn winter. Butterum color

Although this year has added bright colors, the autumn-winter collections usually delight us with more restrained and calm tones. Butterum is perfect for coats, suits, jackets, skirts, etc. This is a warm and rich beige shade that goes well with many classic colors, even red. It is well suited both for creating a total look and various color combinations with white, black or beige colors and their shades.

Autumn winter. Navy Peony color

Anya Hindmarch, Giorgio Armani and Alexis Mabille paid Special attention Navy Peony color. Leading designers suggest using this warm, velvety shade of blue instead of the usual brown and black tones. “Sea Peony” will help you hide minor problems with your figure, because it visually slims and adds height. We invite you to pay attention to this color, because it will be incredibly relevant this season.

Autumn winter. Color Neutral Gray

Marques' Almeida, ADEAM, Giorgio Armani, Fendi and other fashion houses have decided to use Neutral Gray as the base color when creating their collections. This shade of gray coped well with the mission assigned to it. This cool shade of gray goes well with almost all colors and fabrics. But, do not forget that Neutral Gray is a representative of cool colors that should be used very carefully. Blondes with fair skin should be especially wary. This combination can create a very faded look.

Autumn winter. Grenadine color

If the previous colors were more restrained and calm, then the next shade will add life and energy to the dull everyday life of the autumn-winter season. So, meet a bright representative of shades of red, a color called Grenadine. This color will add vitality to any item, be it a coat, skirt or shoes. If you want to distinguish yourself from the gray mass, then feel free to use this color to create fashionable looks.

Autumn winter. Tawny Port color

No autumn collection can do without burgundy. This year we will get acquainted with a shade of burgundy called Tawny Port. This noble shade resembles overripe cherries or grapes. This color goes well with the usual black and brown tones. You can purchase a coat in Tawny Port color or use accessories (hats, gloves, scarves) in this color to complement the look in other, more classic colors.

“Golden port” (as the name of this noble color is translated from English) will add sophistication and elegance to any of your looks. It is great for a variety of fabrics and textures, and also goes well with all the colors from the Panton Institute's fashion color palette.

Autumn winter. Ballet Slipper color

This season was not without unusual flowers. The Panton Institute presented a very unusual color for the cold season – Ballet Slipper. This delicate and transparent, but at the same time cool, shade of pink is more suitable for early spring than autumn or winter. But we have what we have. We advise you not to follow the lead of some designers and limit yourself to only partial use of this color in your wardrobe. Fortunately, it goes well with other autumn-winter colors.

Autumn winter. Warm taupe color

Of course, it is impossible to imagine any autumn-winter fashion show without the use of the classic “warm brown” color. This season was no exception and Panton specialists suggested a color – Warm taupe. It is very warm and calm and will add confidence and purity to your image.

Autumn winter. Dusty Cedar color

If Tawny Port has become a calmer and nobler representative of burgundy shades, then Dusty Cedar will become a color that radiates life and love. This color is warmer than golden port. It will add femininity and love to any of your outfits. Dusty Cedar can be used as a stand-alone color to create a total look, or in combination with other colors.

Autumn winter. Lush Meadow color

If the spring-summer season was full of bright green shades of lush grass, then the autumn-winter collections could not do without a representative of emerald green color, such a representative was Lush Meadow. This rich, cool shade of green will add vitality to your fashion looks.

Autumn winter. Color Flame Scarlet

Experts from the Panton Institute decided that one red would not be enough for the fall-winter season and offered as many as 2 shades of red – Grenadine and Flame Scarlet. We have already met the first of them, now let’s move on to “fiery red”. Unlike Grenadine, Flame Scarlet has a warmer color. It is more suitable for girls with a warm appearance. This color can be used to create total looks. Don't believe me? There's never too much red this season. Feel free to dress in red and don’t forget to put on red shoes or boots - it won’t be vulgar.

Autumn winter. Pale pink color

In addition to two red and two burgundy shades, the Panton Institute also offered 2 light shades Pink colour. Both representatives are quite pale and “transparent”, but if the first can be classified as cold tones, then the second can be classified as warm. Outfits in this color will be imbued with vulnerability, femininity and naivety. Try to use this shade for the “top”. Buy a scarf, blouse, top or dress in a warm pale pink shade and you can add tenderness to your look.

So, we tried to introduce you to the main color preferences in the fashion world for the fall-winter season. But remember that these are just recommendations, and the final choice is yours. Good luck!
